Delese Wear is Associate Director of the Human Values in Medicine Program and the Women and Medicine Program at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She is the author (with Lois LaCivita Nixon) of Literary Anatomies: Women's Bodies and Health In Literature (State University of New York, 1994), and Privilege in the Medical Academy: A Feminist Examines Gender, Race, and Power (Teacher's College Press, 1997), and the editor of Women in Medical Education: An Anthology of Experience (State University of New York, 1996) and (with Janet Bickel) Educating for Professionalism: Creating a Climate of Humanism in Medical Education (University of Iowa Press, 2001). In addition, she is an associate editor of the collection On Doctoring, a literary anthology distributed each year to every medical student in the United States and she was editor of the Journal of Medical Humanities from 1997 to 2004.
